Disability Benefit Questionnaires

The Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) uses Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs) to collect the necessary medical information to process a Veteran’s disability claim(s). This site provides examples of the DBQs that disability medical examiners complete.

The PACT Act

The PACT Act is the largest health care and benefit expansion in VA history. The full name of the law is The Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act.

  • Expands and extends eligibility for VA health care for Veterans with toxic exposures and Veterans of the Vietnam, Gulf War, and post-9/11 eras

  • Adds 20+ more presumptive conditions for burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic exposures

  • Adds more presumptive-exposure locations for Agent Orange and radiation

  • Requires VA to provide a toxic exposure screening to every Veteran enrolled in VA health care

  • Helps improve research, education, and treatment related to toxic exposures

Exposure Ed Mobile App

This App was created by the Veteran’s Health Administration and provides a quick reference for military-related toxic exposures. Providers can use this tool to have an informed discussion with Veterans about their individual exposure-related concerns and potential impacts on their health. This application should not be used for diagnostic purposes.

Military Environmental Exposures Certification

This is a free, self-paced, online certification program offered by the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM) and VA.

Military Exposures Newsletters

Military Exposures & Your Health is VA’s online quarterly publication on military environmental exposures and Veterans’ health for those who have served since 1990. Sign up for the VA to notify you when future issues of Military Exposures & Your Health become available and to receive other updates about military environmental exposures from the VA. Occupational Hazards

Veterans may have been exposed to different hazards based on their military occupation. This website allows for a search of military occupations via keywords or a known military occupational code and provides a detailed description of job duties. This website provides additional information about military careers.

inTransition

The inTransition program is a free, voluntary, and confidential program designed to ensure support to active duty service members, National Guard members, and reservists with psychological health needs as they move between healthcare systems. Call 800-424-7877 inside the U.S.

  • Assistance with referrals and follow-up with new providers to ensure continuity of care.

  • Support for psychological health and wellness through the coach’s use of motivational interviewing, readiness and action planning to identify and address challenges.

  • A designated inTransition coach, available by phone, who is a master’s level, licensed clinician.

  • Information about local community resources, support groups, healthy lifestyle options, benefit enrollment, and other health resources.
